Inclusion & Accessibility
Inclusion is at the heart of Making Light. At Making Light, we believe the arts belong to everyone. Our programming is open to people of all abilities and we are committed to finding ways to include anyone who wants to participate. We strive to structure our programming to eliminate obstacles and increase opportunities for participation. We have a proven commitment to offering leadership opportunities to women and people of color and serving any family, regardless of ability to pay. Since 2016, we have never denied a scholarship application with a proven financial or special need. We expanded our reach by partnering with a local foster care agency to provide scholarships, and also partner with Stubbs Educational Foundation to provide needs-based scholarships.

We are committed to ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to access our programs, activities, and facilities, regardless of disability, in accordance with Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and Section 504's relevant implementing regulations, 45 C.F.R. Part 85 (Part 85). Section 504 prohibits programs that receive Federal funding from discriminating against qualified individuals with disabilities. Part 85 specifies the actions we must take to ensure we do not discriminate against individuals with disabilities.

The Making Light community proudly values individual differences and does not tolerate discrimination or bullying. Embracing a diverse and inclusive culture is among our most important principles. We will continuously strive to create a culture of inclusion, one that empowers creativity and innovation, where everyone can display their respective talents and enjoy meaningful participation. Everyone brings unique perspectives and strengths to the table; let us embrace them, celebrate them, and use them to continue making light in the world.
